SEMI FINALS
The VBL made it happen in Hollywood on Thursday night, as the semi-finals of the
VBL Playoffs took over the Hollywood Recreation Center. The first match-up of the
night saw Rise of The Nations and the Mean Ones facing off for a spot in the finals on
Sunday. Things went back and forth in the first as the Mean Ones, led by the Grinch
and Beast used a steady inside outside attack to counter ROTN’s athleticism, but
MVP candidate “T Will” would not let his team play complacently. After an amazing
half time show by young up and comers, Remix, ROTN’ began to build a steady
advantage that the Mean Ones could not overcome. In the second match of the
night, The NCAA Boys led by A.J. “The Chosen One” faced off against the defending
champion Beach Warriors and Michael Blue. The college boys played well but trailed
for a most of the game. The Chosen One was never really able to get his squad into
the flow of the offense, while the Beach Warriors played consistently with very few
mistakes. The Beach Warriors’ Pop Champagne was a problem inside for the NCAA
who lacked the muscle of the Warriors. While some timely shooting from The Kid
kept the NCAA boys in the game, their turnovers were too much too overcome and
the Beach Warriors were headed back to the championship game.
