Week 5 Recap - We raising the bar
Week 5 started off with a great host for KBVL in David Blu (@mrdavidblu) who played overseas in the Euroleague for tens years. The focus was for the kids to work on their footwork and agility.
Game 1 saw two of the best dunkers in VBL with Jarrell “Bama” Tate and Chris Staples. Project Backboard came out with a force hitting lots of threes in the first half. Van Girard had four by himself and wanted to set a tone against Green Lights. Ryan Nitz had a huge all around game for Project Backboard with 21 points eight rebounds five assists two steals and one block to help his with the victory 92-65 against Green Lights and seal him player of the week honors.
Game 2 saw two of the best teams in the VBL go head to head with Sunblock vs We are chance. Both teams were undefeated and playing to keep themselves that way!
Sunblock started the game on a 14-4 run. As the game went on tensions reached heights and players got into it! Donald Lee for Sunblock led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds to secure them a 5-0 record with the final scored being 60-49.
With both Clutch Pandas and The Undrafted searching for their first win of the season Game 3 was a competitive display of two willing teams. Trappy Smoov continued his strong play with 17 points eight rebounds and two blocks to lead Clutch Pandas to a 76-70 victory to secured this first win of the season. Congrats to the Pandas for making Metta World Peace proud!
Game 4 was the best game of the day with the defending champs Los Fearless going against 1 Percentage. AJ “The Chosen One” continued where he left off and had another great all around game with 24 points, 8 rebounds 6 assists, and 3 steals. It was a back and forth game with AJ “The Chosen One” sending the game into overtime. Curtis led Los Fearless in scoring with 17 points and 13 rebounds while T.J scored the game winning bucket to seal the win for Los Fearless 68-66. This was a good reminder to everyone that the champs are alive and well.
The last game of the day was Pasadena BodyBuilding going up against P4E. Charles “War Machine” Hall had a great game and finished with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals to lead Pasadena Bodybuilding to a 74-53 victory.
