Week 1 Recap - BrandBlack Future Legends dominating the competition

Here is a recap in Photos. Stay tuned for highlights and story!! Week 1 of the VBL started off with a bang. The games were all action packed and full of amazing highlights. There were some thrillers, individual performances, and highlights that made the crowd jump off their feet. Swagg Media Over The Corporation Swagg Media pulls away from the Corporation 91-72. Four Players scored in double figures for Swagg Media. D.J. Shumpert, Brandon Towns, and DeShaun Patterson Scored 18 points each. The game started out quickly for Swagg Media with an 8-0 run. D.J Shumpert electrified the court with an alley oop dunk with 7:28 in the first quarter. Deshaun Patterson also finished with an alley oop finish of his own with 5:23 in the first. Ozi Wata may have been undersized against D.J. Shumpert, but his effort on the boards kept the Corporation in the game to make it a 26-24 game at the end of the first. Swagg Media forced Corporation to turn the ball over and take contested shots from the second quarter all the way to the finish.Baller’s World Outlasts OverthrownBoth teams went back and forth with highlights galore. Darnell Dialls made his presence known with an emphatic block in the first quarter with seven minutes to go. He also followed up that highlight with another flush with two minutes to go in the first quarter. Amin Sahwani dribble driving and spun his way 5 assists Joel Brokenbrough clinched the game with a 2 handed dunk with less than a minute remaining. Andre McPhail earned player of the game honors with 24 points on 12/15 shooting.BrandBlack Powers Through SunblockBrandblack overpowered Sunblock from start to finish 81-52. It was an all around effort for the defending champions. Eugene Wright was everywhere defensively with 7 steals 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Leon Gibson and Tristan Wilson controlled the boards and the game with their height and their effort. Both combined for 25 rebounds. Those rebounds led to fastbreak points. Not much went right for Sunblock but they had moments in the 1st quarter that excited the crowd. Michael Purdie rocked the rim with an alley oop finish with 6 minutes and Brandon Fields had an emphatic rejection with 2 minutes left. Those highlights were enough to overcome the size and rebounding disparity.The Panda’s Friend Survives Against Kings AcademyThe Panda’s Friend escapes in a thriller 62-60. Both teams engaged back and forth from start to finish. Although there was a lot of uptempo gameplay from the Kings Academy forcing turnovers that led to easy points in transition. The Panda’s Friend also used the break when necessary and dominated one on one situations. The game was also physical during the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. The game was decided by free throws and the Pandas earned the points and the victory.
