Game #1: WHN vs GRG OTF
Right from the tip-off, WHN established their dominance, closing out the first quarter with a solid 16-11 lead. The game was chippy, with both teams racking up a significant number of fouls, adding to the tension and excitement on the court. Ash (12 pts, 4 reb, 1 block), the standout player for WHN, was relentless on both ends of the floor. This exceptional performance earned Ash the title of Player of the Game and added to WHN’s lead. The third quarter ended with a commanding 45-31 advantage for WHN. Despite their efforts, GRG-OTF couldn't close the gap in the final quarter and WHN secured a decisive 45-31 victory.
Game #2: New Jersey Sets vs Lady Sweat
In game 2 between Team NJS and Team Lady Sweat, the first half saw Team Lady Sweat holding a strong lead at 29-14. Kendra, the Player of the Game, was a force to be reckoned with, racking up 11pts, 3 Reb, and 1 assist. However, the second half saw a dramatic shift in momentum. They ramped up their defense and began sinking crucial three-pointers. The once wide gap began to close, and by the end of the third quarter, the score stood at 45-49, with Lady Sweat clinging to a narrow lead. Emily (7 pts, 6 Reb) added to the defensive effort, racking up an impressive 6 blocks and 1 steal to hold onto the lead. The fourth quarter was a nail-biter, forcing the game into the intense VBL gamebreaker mode. In the end, Lady Sweat managed to hold on, their early lead just enough to secure a 49-45 victory.
Game #3: Timeless vs Versatile
In the final VWL game of the weekend, Timeless took an early lead and never looked back – controlling the game from the jump. Led by Christina (14 pts, 10 reb, 7 steals), Timeless thrived on the defensive end, as expert perimeter defense translated to a multitude of steals and buckets to follow. Versatile surged back in the second quarter, courtesy of impressive offense from Ash (9 pts, 3/3 on 3PT FGs) and lightning quick post defense from Chelly (7 pts, 7 reb, 4 blocks) – helping to cut the lead to 5 and restrict Timeless to just 13 first-half points. But Timeless broke the game open throughout the second half, converting on some tough shots to secure a 34-23 victory – and stay perfect atop the standings after Week 1.
