ALL STAR WEEKEND 2019 IN LA--SANDSTORM COULDNT SLOW US DOWN
Veniceball X Sand-Knit
One year ago the City of Angels was electric. All Star Weekend had found shelter
in Los Angeles for the first time in the non Kobe era and the city was alive with events at every corner, namely the VBL's very own #ShowLaLove. This year it was Charlotte’s turn to host one of the greatest annual events in basketball. A loaded 3 days embracing the NBA’s top talent. But on the west coast we made history. The weather predicted rain but as Venice locals we knew better, besides it wasn’t going to stop us. We took a 1,000 pound professional hoop into the middle of the beach and took basketball all the way back to its simplest form. No dribbling, no running with the ball. 3on3 and the options are to pass, cut, set screens and pray as the 30 mph wind held the fate of a bucket or miss. Our sponsors for the event Sand Knit with almost a 100 years of history is what made us think of such a wild idea. We had hundreds of people passing the boardwalk stop and take pictures and videos of what was occuring in the sand. After trekking the hoop back onto the mainland we streamed the All Star game live in the Venice Clubhouse. Tea Riot and Pizzaoki kept the party going as the best in the world put on a show!!
