The Hoopbus is speeding into the summer with some exciting announcements for the upcoming months…
First, we are honored to be part of the Leimert Park Rising festival for Juneteenth on Saturday. This celebration of Black liberation will entertain, educate and feature a cast of artists and special guests. We can’t wait to celebrate the culture, art and ideas that this event is sure to provide. Be sure to join the Hoopbus at the festivities!
Later in the summer, the Hoopbus will be traveling from Los Angeles to New York, rebuilding basketball courts, hosting skills clinics and organizing women’s park takeovers along the way. We have been inspired to challenge playground and street ball gender conventions by emphasizing women’s rightful role as basketball ambassadors. With an all star team of female athletes, the Hoopbus is out to change the perspective and have some fun doing it. In other exciting news, the Hoopbus will not be a singular agent of basketball activism for much longer. In July we will be launching a second Hoopbus in Chicago!! With two busses on the road, we hope to reach twice as many people through community empowerment, art, activism and basketball. The future is bright and full of opportunities!!
